E – 1589 Chilled Beams in Laboratories

$25.00

This course will cover consideration for using chilled beams in laboratories. Chilled beams are a growing technology in many building types including laboratory buildings. Chilled beams are fundamentally different from the all-air diffusers used throughout most U.S. buildings. Chilled beams can accommodate sensible and latent loads. In properly designed laboratory environments, chilled beams only provide the sensible cooling, while the central air handling system provides the latent cooling. Chilled beams, while not appropriate for every laboratory, can offer many benefits. As with any new technology, chilled beam systems require care and additional design time to ensure that all possible problems are avoided.
