The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Act of 1970 [Public Law 91-596] holds the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) responsible for conducting research and making science-based recommendations to prevent work-related illness, injury, disability, and even death, including how to prepare for an airborne chemical, biological, or radiological (CBR) attack. This online, PDH-accredited course curated by Steven Liescheidt, PE, CCS, CCPR explores air-filtration and air-cleaning issues associated with protecting building environments from an airborne CBR attack. The purpose of Public Law 91-596 is to help ensure that every working man and woman across the nation has safe and hazard-free working conditions. The present course material provides information about issues that should be considered when assessing, installing, and upgrading filtration systems along with the types of threats that can be addressed by air-filtration and air-cleaning systems. The intention is to provide guidance regarding measures that may be taken to prepare for and mitigate a potential CBR attack.
